About
Selkirk College’s music program is Canada’s first and only school that offers performance, engineering, and composition in a two-year program. It’s also the only program where students can play more than just classical or jazz. It is truly a contemporary music program.
The concept of the schools structure is formed from the instructors experience as performing musicians. In the first year all students study their instrument and related skills. In the second year a major is chosen. The idea is to choose a path based on the goals of the student. Some wish to perform. Others write or record. Students can choose to blend these various carrier paths and Selkirk can is flexible enough to offer the opportunity.
