The Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College is a two-year diploma program developed to train musician performers for the commercial music and entertainment industry. The curriculum is based on the most relevant and up to date music industry standards.

While other schools may focus their attention on a specific style of music, at Selkirk we believe that there is validity to every style. During your two years here you will investigate the best that each genre has to offer from jazz to rock, classical and world music.

The curriculum includes individual instruction on guitar, bass, percussion, saxophone, violin, vocals and keyboards, as well as a solid grounding in music theory and ear training. Individual and group instruction and practice is offered throughout both years of the program. Jazz, pop and rock are the primary instructional styles.

Whether your taking advantage of our music degree pathway to Berklee or our diploma program we’re certain you’ll find a curriculum that appeals to your needs.
